The Fruit We Grow
ALL OF THE FRUIT GROWN AT CABALO'S ORCHARD IS GROWN USING ORGANIC PRACTICES. THAT MEANS THAT WE USE ONLY ORGANIC CERTIFIED PEST CONTROL, FERTILIZATION AND WEED CONTROL PRODUCTS. WE MADE A CHOICE TO NOT CERTIFY OUR PRODUCTS AS ORGANIC. OUR FRUIT IS SAFE TO EAT RIGHT OFF THE TREE. SOME OF OUR FRUIT IS AVAILABLE FOR U-PICK. Apples
We have a total of 12 varieties of apples. Five varieties are fully mature and available; the other eight are young trees that are producing apples in the smaller quantities. Apples are ripe from mid-August through October.
Pie Cherries
We have both Montmorency and North Star Sour Pie Cherries. Our trees are still young and our supply is limited. Pie Cherries ripen in Late June. These have a habit of selling out before they are even picked so call ahead with your order.
Apricots
Apricots ripen in early to mid-July. We have two varieties.
One is called Early Sunglow. They are a small apricot that makes wonderful Jam.
The Other is called Perfection they are larger and a bit sweeter.
Apricots are not available for u-pick.
Berries
We bring in Strawberries, Blackkberries, Blueberries, Marionberries, Boysenberries and Raspberries from Oregon During June and July.
Our U-Pick blackberry is a wonderful thornless variety that ripens the last week in July and is usually available through-out August. Blackberries are available for u-pick but they are limited so it is a good idea to call ahead for availability.
Plums
We have two varieties of Plums. Simka Plums and Santa Rosa Plums.
Plums ripen in August and September and they are Not available for U-Pick
Italian Prunes
Contrary to popular opinion prunes are not just dried plums. An Italian Prunes is meaty and delicious, wheras a plum is Very Juicy. An Italian Prune (Sometimes called a prune plum) is the only one that can be dried. Italian Prunes ripen in September and we usually do allow people to u-pick them.
Melons
We harvest a variety of melons, including Honeydew, Cantaloupe, Canary, Snow Leopard and Bidwell Casaba. All start to ripen in August and September. Melons are not available for u-pick.
Peaches
Though we no longer grow peaches on this farm we do bring in cases of Low Impact Spraed Peaches from western Idaho. We can offer Elberta and O'Henry, both freestone and good canning varieties. You will need to call ahead and place an order
Pears
We do not grow enough pears here to fill the demand so we bring in Low Impact Sprayed Bartlett Pears. Pears will be available in September and it is a good idea to call ahead and reserve some for your canning projects.
Sweet Cherries
2025 should be our first year to have Sweet Cherries. We have 2 varieties, Mazzard and Black Republican. Both should be available towards the end of June. Because they are still so new they will probably not be available for u_pick.
Watermelons
We have three varieties of Watermelon. The most unique is our Moon and Stars. It is a Heritage variety with the flavor of the 1930's. It has a skin that is almost black covered with tiny yellow stars and often a large yellow moon.
We also grow regular red and Yellow flesh wartermelons, too
