Locally Grown Popcorn
WE DISCOVERED THAT IDAHO WEATHER GROWS SOME OF THE BEST TASTING POPCORN YOU WILL EVER TRY
A few years ago Deb Vogel and I grew some popcorn just for fun. It was delicious. It also was a great novelty for our customers. The next year we grew a bit more and toyed with bagging a bit of it.
As you might have guessed it turned out to be very popular.
The Yellow popcorn we grow is a Mushroom variety. That means it pops into more of a round ball shape.
We also grow 5 varieties of heritage popcorns. Each of these come in beautiful colors. We have Dakota Black, Strawberry, Calico, Glass and Rose Pink Popcorns. Each variety pops with a slightly different density and size. We find the best way to sell it is in a blend that we call Calico because it is ver coylorful. During the fall we get it all harvested and dried, then I start removing it from the cob and making our blends. The new crop is usually ready by January.
